IMPORTANCE OF SCAFFOLDING TRAINING

 Scaffolding training is important for the employees for undertaking scaffolding work.  A scaffold is a structure erected temporarily to support a work platform. It is mostly used in construction work where work cannot be done on ground level or floor. Scaffolding work is changing, erecting or disassembling temporary structures erected for supporting a working platform. The Scaffolding training is opted by foremen, site managers, engineers, scaffolders, safety officers and trainees. The training is intended towards educating with various scaffolding systems, erecting, dismantling the scaffolding, national and international regulations, hazard identification and many other related measures. It also includes current codes of practice,  regulations and laws.  They teach the estimation of materials required for constructing the complex scaffolds. Scaffolding helps the workers work safely at height and also to keep tools in limited quantity. It is important to test the scaffolding after and before using it. The erected scaffold has to be reviewed and inspected. The work health and safety laws demand businesses or any other undertaking to perform tasks with minimum risks. The various types of scaffolding systems vary according to the construction work carried out. Single scaffolding, double scaffolding, suspended scaffolding, patented scaffolding, steel scaffolding, trestle, and cantilever, suspended are types of scaffolding. The safety training provides safe work culture, increased productivity and reliability.



· Single scaffolding is commonly used for masonry work and consists of ledgers, standards and putlogs etc. They are parallel to the wall at about 1.2 m distance.

· Double scaffolding is used for stone masonry since it is difficult to make holes in the wall for supporting putlogs. There are two rows made to make it strong.  

· Cantilever scaffolding is where the standards are supported on the number of needles and the needles are taken through the holes in the wall.

· Steel tubes are used in constructing steel scaffolding by fixing them together with fittings or steel couplers. It has long durability and fire resistance.
